Axillary
Injury: neck of humerus, dislocation of head
Motor: deltoid
Sensory: deltoid
Sign: atropied deltoid
Radial
Injury: midshaft fracture, compression of axilla “Saturday night palsy”
Motor: BEST EXTENSORS (brachioradialis, extensors of writs and fingers, supinators, and triceps)
Sensory: Posterior arm, dorsal hand, thumb
Sign: wrist drop
Median
Injury: supracondylar humerus (proximal)
Motor: opposition of thumb, lateral finger flexion, wrist flexion
Sensory: dorsal and palmer of lateral 3 1/2 fingers, thenar eminence
Sign: Ape hand “pope’s blessing”
Ulnar
Injury: medial epicondyle (proximal), hook of hamate
Motor: medial finger flexsion, wrist flexion
Sensory: medial 1 1/2 finger, hypothenar eminence
Sign: radial deviation of wrist upon flexion
Musculocutaneous
Injury: upper trunk compression
Motor: biceps, brachialis, coracobrachialis, flexion of arm at elbow
Sensory: lateral forearm
Sign:
Recurrent branch of median nerve
Injury: superficial laceration of palm
Presentation: Ape hand, loss of thenar muscle group,
NO loss of sensation though.
