fibrocystic breast changes
Also known as benign breast disease (BBD), represent a variety of changes in the glandular and structural tissues of the breast. Because this condition affects 50% to 60% of all women at some point, it is more accurately defined as a “change” rather than a “disease.”
mammography
serves a twofold purpose: to screen and to diagnose. Mammography involves taking x-ray pictures of a bare breast while it is compressed between two plastic plates. This procedure is a screening tool used to identify and characterize a breast mass and to detect an early malignancy.
modified radical mastectomy
surgical option; conducive to breast reconstruction and results in greater mobility and less lymphedema. This procedure involves removal of breast tissue, and a few positive axillary nodes.
