Diruetics Flashcards
Which diuretics act on the proximal convaluted tubule?
Acetazolamide and osmotic diuretics
Name the loop diuretics.
Furosomide, Bumonatide, Ethacrynic acid
When is mannitol used?
For elevated ICP or Glaucoma
What are the potassium sparing diuretic drugs?
Spirolactone, Amiloride, Triamterene
Really good diuretic for mild-moderate CHF
Loop
When are potassium sparing drugs used?
With a loop or thiazide to retain K+ or in hyperaldosteronism
Where do Thiazides act?
Early distal convaluted tubule
When using a loop dirutic why is electrolyte checking done frequently?
Because the drugs can be oto-toxic
Drugs used to concentrate urine for bed wetters?
vasopression, desmopressin
Compare and contrast allopurinol with Probenacid/Sulfinpyrazone
Both used as a treatment for gout, one prevents the formation of uric acid, the others promote excretion
For what conditions are Thiazides used for?
HTN, CHF, kidney stone, diabetes insipidus, stroke
Good uses for Acetazolamide?
Glaucoma, to alkalize urine (barbituate overdose)
