Diencephalon Flashcards
What does the diencephalic consist of
Thalmus
Subthalmus
Hypothalmus
Epithalmus
what is the pineal body connected to
attached to R+L epithalamus
What structures on on either side of the pineal body
Habenular triangles (key regulator of CNS neurotransmitters)
What is the stria medullar is thalami
White nerve fibres that connect epithalamus to limbic system
What is located bw the r + l thalamic masses and what connects them
3rd ventricle inbetween
Bridge connecting both masses called interthalamc connection
what is located right under the fornix and what is its job
Choroid plexus of 3rd ventricle (produces CSF and drains into 3rd ventricle)
what is the lamina terminalis
ant border of the hypothalamus
Where is the ant commissure of the brain located
Just above lamina terminals
A tutor in the pineal body can affect what commissure
may compress habenular commissure (located above) or post commissure (located below)
What is the cerebral aquaduct
Connection bw 3rd and 4th ventricle
What supplies the thalamus and epithalmus
Post choroidal artery of post cerebral artery
What supplies Thalmus and medial geniculate body
Thalamogeniculate artery of post cerebral
What supplies inf wall of hypothalamus and interpeduncular ffossa
Post communicating arteries of post cerebral artery
What can be seen through cut 1 of the epithalamus
Habenular nuclei located on either side of the post commissure (important to stim pineal gland for sleep/wake cycle)
What can be seen in cut 2 of the diencephalon
Sub thalamic nucleus along with mammillary bodies + 3rd ventricle
