dyslexia can explain how childhood developments can effect out cognitive ability in later life

dyslexia occurs in around 1 in 10 children
charachteristed by problems in learning to recognise and decode words at a level which matches their age

its first difficulty is learning letter sounds and names, this demonstrae=tes a problem in verbal STM- pohonolgical loop/ store, have difficulty learning to associate a word with the sound of the speech

it also effects their memory span and working memory capacity, and take longer to process meanings of words
