Sx:
Heliotrope rash: red/purple rash around eye with oedema
Gottrons papules: purple rash over knuckles
Proximal myopathy: cant stand up
Shawl sign: Erythema of upper back and neck
Calcification in childrens subtype

Anti-mi-2: SPECIFIC FOR DERMATOMYOSITIS
anti-jo: polymyositis+ lung fibrosis
Muscle biopsy : degeneration, fibrosis, necrosis
Electromyography
What is the risk of dermatomyositis
Risk of cancer: lung, breast, oesophagus, colon and ovarian
Involuntary muscles affected- dangerous
