What is erythema nodosum?

A

An inflammation of subcutaneous fat that typically causes tender, erythematous, nodular lesions. It typically occurs on the shins.

It can be caused by an infection or a systemic disease such as sarcoidosis. You would expect a ‘bulging’ lesion.

What is erythema multiforme?

A

Giant non-itchy target lesions on forearm.
A hypersensitivity reaction that is most commonly triggered by infections or drugs usage eg amoxicillin (penicillin). for her recurrent urinary tract infections, which probably triggered the reaction.

A

itchy white spots typically seen on the vulva of elderly women

What is lichen planus?

A

Itchy, papular rash most common on the palms, soles, genitalia and flexor surfaces of arms

rash often polygonal in shape, with a ‘white-lines’ pattern on the surface
