Agitation
A state of restless over-activity, aimless or ineffective.
Anhedonia
Loss of ability to derive pleasure from experience
Apathy
Loss of interest in own surroundings
Anxiety
Where thoughts of apprehension / fear predominate
Depression
Where sadness or unhappiness predominates
Stupor
“Consciously passed out”
A state of extreme retardation in which consciousness is intact.
No moving, speaking, eating or drinking - But can clearly describe events after being stuporose.
Hypomania
Lesser degree of mania with no psychosis.
Mild elevation of mood for several days.
Increased energy and activity.
Does not result of severe disruption of work or social standing.
Catastrophizing
To view or present a situation as considerably worse than it actually is.
Cognitive Distortion
Exaggerated or irrational thought pattern, leading to psychopathology.
Stigma
Social construct that devalues people due to a distinguishing characteristic (i.e. old, pregnant, black…)
Disrimination
Excluding or restricting members of one group from opportunities that are available to other groups.
Prejudice
When you make an assumption about someone before having adequate knowledge
Delusion
Fixed false unshakeable belief out of keeping with normal religious or social norms.
Hallucination
An experience involving the apparent perception of something not present.
All 5 special senses may be effected.
Catatonia
Abnormality of movement and behaviour arising (typically schizophrenia). Involves repetitive or purposeless over activity.
