deep back myology unit 2 Flashcards
serratus posterior superior, a o n
elevate ribs? attatch to superior rib borders II-V, anterior rami t2-t5
serratus posterior inferior a o n
depress ribs? inferior rib borders 8-12, anterior rami t9-t12
name thetwo spinotransversale muscles
splenius capitus, splenius cervices,
action of the splenii (spinotransversales)
bilaterally extend neck, unilaterally rotate ipsi.
erector spinae muscles (3)
spinales, illiocostale, longissimus
action of erector spinae muscles
posture, extension, but some bending and rotation
splenius capitus o i
lig nuchae and spinous process of c7-t4; skull below the lateral 1/3 of the nuchal line and mastoid process
splenius cervecis o i
spinous process t3-t6; transverse process c1-c3
illiocostales, o i
iliac crest/ or lumbar fascia or angles of ribs (TC)– angles of ribs (l/t) transverse processes (cervical)
longissimus o i – thoracis cervicis capitus
transverse processes, transverse process or mastoid (capitus)
spinales o, i
spinous processes– blends w semi spinales capites or nuchal line
transversospinales mucsles (4)
semispinales capitus, semispinales thoraicis, rotatores thoracis, multifidus
transversospinales o i
transverse process (or lamina) to spinous process (pr skull)
what is the territory for semispinales capitus?
cervical 4-6 vert per
what is the territory for rotatores thoracis?
deepest, thoracic, 1-2 v
what is the territory for multifidus?
lumbar, 2-4 v per
levator costurum o i
transverse process to inferior rib turburcle
which transversospinale has a different action and what is it?
semispinalis, extension of neck, ipsi rotation
what is the action of levator costurum, and where can you find them?
elevate ribs, cii-t7
what muscles make up the sub occipital triangle?
rectus capitus posterior minor, [rcp major], obliquis capitus superior, obliquis capitus inferior dorsal rami of suboccipital nerve– post ramus c1
rectus capitus post minor o i
post arch of atlas to med aspect of inferior nuchal line
rectus posterior major o i
spinous process of c2-lateral aspect of nucal line
obliquis capitus superior o i
transverse process of atlas - point between sup and inf nuchal line
obliquis capitus inferior o i
transverse process axis - transverse process atlas
where does the posterior ramus of c1 exit, and what is its significance?
between base of skull and atlas, and it innervates the sub occipital triangle
what blood supply is near the occipital triangle, how is it a concern for manipulations?
vertebral artery, wraps around transverse process of c1 before foramen magnum, a translation of c1 could cause stroke.
what is the path of the greater occipital nerve?
goes through traps, also innervates scalp ie cervicogenic headaches after occipital triangle
