CVR 36 Pulmonary Haemodynamics Flashcards
1
Q
how is the response to hypoxia unique in pulmonary?
A
inlike systemic circulation which INCREASES in the setting of hypoxia, it shunts blood away from areas of hypoxia which favours perfusion (Q) to areas better ventialted.
2
Q
Causes of Pulmonary Oedema
A
Hydrostatic Pulmonary venous hypertension Due to raised left atrial pressure
Alveolar Membrane permeability increase
Low oncotic pressure
Lymphatic Obstruction
3
Q
How might pulmonary arterial hypertension come about?
A
Primarily
elevated PA pressure
progressive dispnoea, chest pain, syncope
Meds - prostaglandins
Secondary
Pulmonary venous hypertension
PE
Pulm arterial vasoconstriction
4
Q
What is cor pulmonale
A
right ventricle failure by respiratory disease.
