Current of Injury Flashcards
Thaxter
What are the 2 main arteries of the heart?
Right Coronary Artery
Left Coronary Artery
What does the Left coronary artery divide into
Left Anterior Descending Branch
Left Circumflex Branch
What is Ischemia
Limited blood flow within a coronary artery
Define injury as it relates to the heart
Prolonged ischemia
Define Infarct
Complete occlusion of a coronary artery
Which stage of electrical conductivity is prolonged due to ishemia
Depolarization is prolonged because ischemia leads to hypoxia of the myocardium and this decreases ATP. ATP is needed for the Na/K pump to pump Na out of the cell .
Due to this not happening the next depolarization is prolonged.
Which tissue is most affected by ischemia and what is its significance to the ECG graph
Subendocardial tissue most affected.
Represented by ST depression or ST inversion
What occurs due to repolarization not occurring normally on ischemic tissues
T wave inverts
Ischemia is transmural means
existing across the entire wall of the organ
When there is the death of tissue which wave is sometimes seen see
q wave
Which leads give a view of the inferior heart wall
Leads 2, 3 and aVF
Which leads give a view of the high lateral heart wall
Leads 1 and aVL
Which leads give a view of the low lateral heart wall
V5 AND V6
Which leads give a view of the anterior heart wall
Leads V3 AND V4
Which leads give a view of the septal heart wall
Leads v1 and V2
