What does Gerbner argue?
A
Gerbner believes the media generally tends to repeat representations of people/groups of people, and the effects of the representations of the audiences in the media build up over time.
These repeated representations cultivate or grow our ideas and change our behaviour and perceptions over time. They create an idea in society of what is mainstream and can change the dominant ideologies of society.
