Craniosacral Output Flashcards
Oculomotor (III)
sensory input from the smooth muscles of the eyes, and preGN neurons running motor output to the ciliary ganglion, then synapsing with a post-GN neuron to serve the intrinsic muscles of the eye
Facial (VII)
PreGN neurons run motor output to the Pterygopalatine and Submandibular ganglia, then synapsing with PostGNs to serve the lacrimal, nasal, palatine, and salivary (sublingual and submandibular) glands
Glossopharyngeal (IX)
PreGN neurons run motor output to the Otic ganglion, then synapsing with a PostGN to serve the parotid salivary gland
Vagus(X)
Sensory input from the viscera, and PreGNs carrying motor output to intramural ganglia of the esophagus, bronchioles, heart (nodal cells), stomach, small intestine, colon, pancreas, liver, gall bladder/bile duct, renal parenchyma and ureter
S2-S4
Pelvic splanchnic nerves sending motor output to intramural ganglia in the descending/sigmoid colon, rectum, urinary bladder, and male/female external genitalia
