Q

PALSY

A

Symptoms can vary from mild to severe. Include muscle twitching, weakness, or total loss of facial movements in some cases both sides of the face are effected.

13
Q

Bell’s palsy is linked to

A

facial nerve damage

13
Q

CN 8

A

Vestibulocochlear
Body position
Sense of hearing

14
Q

Stroke is caused by

A

a blood clot that stops blood flow to the brain/ a blood vessel that ruptures in the brain

15
Q

VESTIBULAR SCHWANNOMA

A

Build up leading from the inner ear to the brain.

16
Q

CN IX LESION

A

Glossopharyngeal nerve lesions produce difficulty swallowing
Impairment of taste over the posterior one-third of the tongue and palate
Impaired sensation over the posterior one-third of the tongue, palate, and pharynx; an absent gag reflex.
Dysfunction of the parotid gland

16
Q

CN 9

A

Glossopharyngeal
Swallowing and taste

17
Q

VAGAL SCHWANNOMA

A

Tumor that arises from the vagus nerve—the longest cranial nerve that originates in the brain stem and extends down through the neck and into the chest and abdomen.

This nerve controls involuntary processes such as the muscles of the throat and the voice box.

17
Q

CN 10

A

Vagus nerve
Supplies heart, lungs, upper digestive tract, and other organs of the chest and abdomen

17
Q

CN 11

A

Accessory
Motor control of the sternocleidomastoid and trapezius

18
Q

CN 12

A

Hypoglossal
Represent all muscles of the tongue except the palatoglossus muscle
muscles are involved in moving and manipulating the tongue

18
Q

ACCESSORY NERVE DISORDER

A

-Diminished muscle mass, fasciculations, and partial paralysis of the sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscle

Caused by Radical neck dissection/ cervical lymph node biopsy
