Explain why cracking is necessary
A
Some fractions in crude oil arent in as much demand as petrol/diesel .
This means that fuel such as fuel oil /bitumen can be cracked to make petrol/diesel bc it is not in much demand

vaporised hydrocarbons passed over powered catalyst Aluminium oxide (catalyst) the long chain molecules split or crack on the surface of catalyst.
