Condensate Transfer (CT) Flashcards
What is the Safety Design bases of the CT system?
maintaining hot standby condition equipment must remain functional post safe shutdown earthquake
adverse weather shall not interfere with the ability of said equipment to perform their functions
enough reserve water to maintain hot standby for 8 hours and orderly Rx shutdown if the main condenser is unavailable
300k gallons (plus 10% margin) reserved for AF to mainatin hotstandby for 8 hours (~140k gal) and cooling the Rx to 350*F (~140k gal)
piping that supplies the secondary system enters the tank above the 330k mark
What is the power generation design bases of the CT system?
Provides inventory to fill condensate and FW system and serve as a reservoir.
Sufficient capacity to supply the normal secondary demands for 3 days without makeup.
(This is in addition to the required inventory required for safe shutdown)
What level in the CST will auto close the Condenser auto makeup valves?
31 feet
What signal automatically opens CDN-LV-75, Condenser drawoff valve, sending water back to the CST?
high hotwell level
What protects the CST from overpressurization?
2 relief valves aka breather valves
Where are the CT pumps powered from?
PH
When are the CT pumps running?
Not normally running
auto start on ‘SLCC’
SIAS, LOP, CREFAS, CRVIAS (Override available for all)
What does the CT system provide emergency makeup for?
DG Jacket water
EC expansion tank
EW surge tank
Also a backup to fill SFP
where does the CT pump mini-flow recirc flow back to?
CST above the 330k mark
What protection is provided to the AFN pump regarding the CT suction valves?
What is the normal status of these suction valves?
When either valve is less than 80% open, Aux Feed ‘N’ will not start or trip.
closed for seismic concerns
Where are the AFN suction valves powered from?
PH
When is the CST considered ‘empty’?
What must be done when the CST empty alarm comes in?
8.5’
CST is no longer useable for AF water supply
must swap AF suctions to the RMWT for the Class pumps ONLY
What components in the CT system have SESS alarms?
Both CT transfer pumps
What is considered the primary suction source for the SG FLEX makeup pumps?
Alternate?
Which is the preferred source and why?
primary - directly off the bottom of the CST
alternate - AF suction piping
preferred - AF suction piping because we could also pull suction off the RMWT if needed
