What are the contraindications of doxycycline?
- children < 8 y/o → adverse effects on developing teeth & bone
- pregnancy category D (known risk to fetus)
What are the side effects of doxycycline?
GI discomfort, avoid taking w/ dairy, sun protection (bc phototoxicity), reduced efficacy of birth control
amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium tablets in pregnancy category B (safe for pregnant women & infants)
