- Degeneration of the joints
- Most affects >65

Osteoarthritis Tx
A
- Take paracetamol regularly
- Panadol OSTEO has sustained release and is suggested
- Topical NSAID 4 times daily can also be used if necessary

Acute Soft Tissue Injury Tx
A
In first 48-72 hours - Rest - Ice 10-20min every 1-2hrs - Compression - Elavate above heart level - Refer if pain persists Paracetamol is first line with option of oral NSAID aswell

- Usually has inflammatory cause
- NSAIDs drug of choice
- Paracetamol +/- codeine if severe
- Should refer to dentist

- Destruction of endometrial cells - Release prostaglandins
- Vasoconstriction and muscle contraction
- Pain/Cramps

- NSAIDs drug of choice (reduce prostaglandin production in menstrual fluid)
- Start at onset of pain or 2 days prior and continue for first 2-3 of period

Local anaesthetics
- Available in topical sprays
- Avoids need to rub in which can be painful

Paracetamol suppositories

- +Opioid (eg. codeine)
