- Increased money/ sponsorship for athletes allow them to train full time
- Money for better facilities/ coaches/ equipment
- Sports become more popular due to increased media coverage therefore increases participation and funding
- More coverage therefore spectators can see more matches and get a better experience

Disadvantages of the golden triangle
A
- Athletes have extra commitments to sponsors e,g, marketing events
- Increased pressure on athletes due to bigger audience
- More/longer breaks for adverts which disrupt play for athletes
- Different times for matches e.g. friday night
