2nd Alarm Eng location at Major Collapse
Two of 2nd Alarm Eng should be used to seal off ends of street. ECC must remain in the cab to be able to move the rig if directed by IC. Remaining Eng positioned well away from scene. Ch 5

Outside of collapse danger zone, but as close as possible to front of the bldg to provide immediate access to specialized tools/equipment Ch 5
Major Collapse: Who est initial ICP?;
Staging Area?
ICP: 1st Arriving Chief Off est in an area outside of operations site and collapse zone;
SA: Initial IC est SA. Assign a Company Off as Staging Area Manager until replaced by a Battalion Chief. Transmit preliminary report regarding location of ICP and SA Ch 6
Eng Responsibilities in order of Highest to Lowest: “AEV”
Affected bldg and surrounding debris- extinguish active fire
Exposure protection
Vehicles- ext fire w/in vicinity of collapse
NO active fire- 2 1/2” HL to cover entire operation
Suspected Terrorism- 2 1/2” HL between 2 rigs or other shielding Ch 7
Can an Eng take a position within the block of a major collapse?
At times it may be necessary for 1st Eng to take a position within the block for use of Master Stream for fire control or Exposure protection Ch 7
Can the IC breakup the 2nd Eng to perform different tasks?
Members of the 2nd Eng will remain together as a unit UNLESS otherwise ordered by IC Ch 7
