-larger group means theres more chance of social loafing and ringleman effect.
> personal factors- refers to similarities between grou memebers eg goals, aspirations,
> team factors- ability, desire for success. the more success achieved the more the team members will want to succeed so the higher cohesion will be.
> leadership- leadership style, leader- team relationship.
what is task and social cohesion
task- focus on end result- team works together to achieve the goal
social- looks at the interactions of the group and how they wok together eg trust in eachothers abilty or socialising outside the game.
why do teams need social and task cohesion
social cohesion helps the team interactm, communicate better and increases trust and support
however can be neg thing as it can produce cliques.
task cohesion is most important as team are working towards a common goal, so they work effectively together concertrating on the task rather than persoal disputes. it can override social cohesion problems.
teams need task cohesion to be successful but can perform well w/o social cohesion. task cohesion = increased motivation
