To recover from this player can take a break to reduce arousal levels
What are the causes of anxiety
Being watched
Injury
Fatigue
Running out of time when loosing
What are the ways to Measure anxiety
Questionnaire
Observation
Physiological responses
How is a questionnaire used to measure anxiety and evaluation of it
SCAT questionnaire
The higher the score the higher the anxiety
✅- cheap, easy, allows for comparison
❌- socially desirable answers given (lack validity), may not understand questions, answers may be incorrect due to rushing.
How is observation used to measure anxiety and evaluation of it
Measure anxiety by watching players
✅true to life
❌ time-consuming, subjective, need to know the player, could change behaviour because they know they’re being watched.
How can physiological responses be used to measure anxiety and evaluation of it
Measure HR, breathing rate, sweating etc
✅objective, factual, measured in real time.
❌ Device could restrict performer, requires equipment- costly, the device could cause more anxiety.
