EBacc
At Gcse level, a school performance indication that measures students attainment by average of core subjects. Seen as a prestigious qualification and aimed to raise standards as ensured all have an equal assessment of knowledge

Raising standards for literacy and numeracy, phonics screening tests take place to ensure all pupils have learned phonics decoding by age 6/phonics screening ks1, introduced spag testing at ks2

Made it so oftsed rating outstanding schools could become academies, had funding from government and local business sponsors and also more freedom -raises standards as schools strive for this , wanted all schools to become academies
Intro of free schools
School set up in ‘areas where they are needed’ gov.uk- state funded (although gain 7,761/student compared to 3/4k) but independently run;set up by parents, set up in response to what people want and need, example of parentocracy -more choice of where to send children. (Often in middle class areas so does not benefit all)
Proposed expansion of grammar schools
To allow new grammar schools and giving green light for existing ones to expand, have to sit 11 plus and are government funded by gain 12k instead of 3k
Pupil premium -equality of opp
Replaced EMA-Gives schools extra funding to raise attainment of disadvantaged pupils from reception to year 11. Fund of 625mill to give schools 400/year for children with FSM and those who have been looked after/in care - pay for trips, textbooks, travel, post 16 bursary
Increase to HE fees (raising standards)
Any uni able to charge up to 6000, exceptional cases to 90p
