Produces scalloped pattern of responding we’re a little behavior is produced early in interval but as interval nearest end rate of responding increases

Q

Lag reinforcement schedule
•Criteria for reinforcement is a response different from previous number of responses

• Leg five schedule must be different than last five responses

Q

HANLEY, : By pairing less preferred activity with established reinforcers through contingent delivery or through non-contingent delivery?

Findings:
-enhancing an activity with supplemental contingent reinforcement can shift choices tours activity

-Non-contingent pairing of an activity with established preferred stimuli can shift choices towards activity

BUT….. effects seem transient in general (does not persist after discontinuation of pairing)

A

Determinants of stimulus value can we make something preferred that was not already?

Q

Fixed time provides reinforcement at a fixed time since the last reinforcement, irrespective of whether subject has responded (Noncontingent schedule)

Variable time provide reinforcement at an average variable time since last reinforcement regardless of whether the subject has responded or not

A

Q

Prototype study: Deci 1971

Compared to possible completion of two groups

Following baseline observation, one group received a one dollar reward for completion. The other group did not. For reward group, puzzle completion decreased to be low initial baseline level following cessation of reward contingency, while stable completion levels were observed for a control group

A

Extrinsic reinforcement and intrinsic motivation
