What is the care plan for providing foot care to one foot?
Provide foot care to one foot using soap and water
What are the supplies needed?
I. Barrier for table II. Bath basin III. 2 washcloths IV. Towel V. Soap VI. Lotion VII. Gloves VIII. Socks/shoes
Where must the barrier be placed?
Barrier must be placed on the floor in front of the patient
What do you do once you have put water in the basin and the patient has checked the water?
Have the patient place their foot in the basin, as well as soak the washcloth
What do you do with the first washcloth?
Apply soap to the washcloth and wash all surfaces of the foot
What do you observe for while cleaning the foot?
Observe for any abnormalities in the foot, such as red areas, sores, wounds, etc.
How do you rinse the foot off?
Rinse foot by placing it back in the basin
Where do you apply the lotion?
Apply lotion to the patient’s foot, except between the toes
What must you do for the patient once you have cleaned their foot?
Put on patients socks and shoes
