Closed Guard Flashcards
Triangle choke from closed guard:
When in closed guard grab both of the opponents wrists and push one of their hands into their chest and pull one towards you, as you do this at the same time raise your hip the same side as the hand you’ve pulled in towards you and raise that leg and place youre calf over the back of their neck, next grab your shin behind their neck with the hand on the opposite side and then shimmy back with your hips and pull them into you further with their neck and your leg then cross then place the other leg on the side of their neck and cross the leg behind their neck underneath the leg on the side of their neck and tuck your ankle underneath the knee then squeeze your knees in and pull back and down with their head
Arm bar from closed guard
When in closed we’re trying to at a minimum get the opponents arm that we’re attacking inside our hip, in our center or at best across our body, we’re also using our far side arm to get a grip behind our opponents head to control them from postering you, once we’ve pull our opponents arm to at least inside our house we twist our hips away from the opponent to allow us to throw our legs into a top lock behind the opponent and also causing the opponents elbow of the arm we’re attacking to be inside our hips next grab the under hook behind the opponents hamstring with your far side arm and hook your other arm over the opponents arm we’re attacking to get a grip for the armbar, next twist your hips and body so it’s perpendicular with the opponents body as if you were going for a triangle so that both your toes are pointing the same way and step your free leg over the opponents head so their arms in between both your legs, you can finish from here or sweep your opponent on their bad to go for the normal
Omaplata from closed guard
When your opponents in your closed guard with his arms posted out either side of you decide with arm you want to attack and grab just above the elbow on the arm with your same side arm, next with you leg on the same as the attacking side slide it up and over the opponents body and rest your leg in a right angle on the back of the neck/ upper back area making sure their wrist is tucked into your pocket area creating a bend in their arm the same as a kimora. Next pull your other knee through and rest it on the side of the opponents near side neck and joint your heel and knee together to make it harder for your opponent to escape. Next twist your body towards your opponent so the space between you is reduced then cross your leg on the opponents back under your other leg while still making sure the opponents hand is still in your pocket area. Next straighten your legs out and swing forward so you can sit up and your opponent falls forward. Next twist your legs so your knees are pointing towards your opponent and your feet are point away. To finish this submission sit up towards your opponents far shoulder.
