what is a generalized tonic clonic seizure?
seizure characteristic of tonic (rigid) stiffening of all extremities and upward deviation of the eyes. Clonic jerks of all extremities follow the tonic phase.
Finally, the child becomes flaccid, and urinary incontinence may occur.
what is a simple partial seizure?
focal seizure that affects one side of body
What is a hallmark feature of complex partial seizure?
altered level of consciousness!! (this is how it differs from simple partial seizures)
what is an atonic seizure?
seizure involving the loss of motor tone
what is an absence seizure?
Absence seizures are characterized by loss of environmental awareness (“staring off into space”) and automatisms (e.g., eye-fluttering or lip-smacking).
