costal impression (tuberosity)
lies on the medial end of the inferior surface of the clavicle
Broad, rough surface
subclavian sulcus (groove)
runs along the posteroinferior quadrant of the midshnaft, providing a roof over the great vessels of the neck and an insertion for the subclavian muscle
conoid tubercle
found on the lateral end of the clavicle and located posteriorly
trapezoid line (oblique ridge)
leads laterally from the conoid tubercle
attachment site for the trapezoid ligament
superior surface
bears less relief (smoother) than the inferior surface
Siding: medial end
round
Siding: lateral end
flattened
Siding: whole bone
bone bows anteriorly from the medial end, curves posteriorly at midshaft and then sweeps anteriorly again as it reachers the lateral, flattened end
Siding: inferior surface
most irregularities and roughenings found here
Siding: facet for the first costal cartilage
on the inferior edge of the medial clavicle and the costal tuberosity is also inferior
