- Primarily bacteriostatic action against Gram-positive aerobes and a wide range of anaerobic bacteria
- Clindamycin binds to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome to inhibit the early stages of protein synthesis.

- Staphylococcal joint and bone infections
- Intra-abdominal sepsis
- Cellulitis
- Skin and soft- tissue infections.

- AAS
- GI SE
- Oesophageal disorders/Taste disturbances
- Jaundice
- Blood disorders

What happens if diarrhoea occurs?
A
- AAC (C.diff)
- May be fatal
- If severe, prolonged, bloody diarrhoea discontinue treatment

Symptoms of antibiotic-associated colitis
A
prolonged or bloody diarrhoea develops
