Why was the middle class at their peak from 1846 - 85?
They were very influential in local governments, which also had their peak because of the vast amounts of money that they could use. The Great Exhibition of 1851 showed off middle class inventions like hydraulics and new machines.

There was an increase in the intraclass communication as many professional colleges were emerging such as the BMA, GMC and Royal College of surgeons as a way to join those in the same profession and filter out the unskilled.

More commercial jobs popped up such as shopkeepers and accountants and surveyors because of the increase in railways. This was because more people needed accountants for the budget of making railways and lawyers to settle land disputes.
