Scapular fracture
Sternal fracture
Cigarette Burns
What is the most common age of children who are sexually abused?
Most victims are 9-12 years old
What is an effective way to interview a child whom you may be suspect to be a victim of sexual abuse?
Minimal Facts Interview
What are some “Very High Risk” Populations?
Intelectually Disabled - 4x more likely
Deaf children - 50% are victims
Transgender - 50% are victims
LGBTW - 3x more likely
-Among developmentally disabled aduults, 83% of females are victims
What are some victim risk factors for Elder Abuse?
- Dementia, psychiatric diagnosis
- Physical dependence
- Incontinence
What are some perpetrator risk factors for elder abuse?
- substance abuse
- financial dependence on the victim
What are the different types of elder abuse?
Physical, Sexual, Psychological, Financial, and Neglect (50% of cases)
What are some signs of Neglect in elder abuse?
- lack of needed nutrition
- Poor personal care (urine odor in incontinent person)
- lack of needed medication or health aids
When inspecting fractures, what is one thing to look for that may cause you to suspect abuse?
Fractures at different healing points
