Salesforce provides 4 group types for different purposes and audiences and they are :
Public groups
Private groups
Unlisted groups
Broadcast Only
Describe a public group:
visible and open to all employees.
Anyone in the company can join
Anyone can post, comment, and add files to it
Describe a private group:
members-only.
must request to join a private group.
Only the members can post, comment, and add files.
Non- members can see the group’s picture and description but not the group feed or files.
External users, like customers, can join, if the group owner or manager invite them.
Describe a Unlisted group:
invitation-only
don’t appear in list views or search results.
hidden from everyone except the members of the group.
Only the group’s owner and managers can invite people to join an unlisted group.
Describe a Broadcast Only group:
For making announcements.
Only the owner and managers of a broadcast-only group can post to it.
Group members can comment on those posts.

enable unlisted groups
