Exercise of power that hurts, maligns, or disempowers others
Marginalization
Systematic exclusion of minority group members from quality social services, economic opportunity, and the absence of power
Audism
An attitude based on pathological thinking resulting in a negative stigma towards anyone who does not hear
Reciprocity of perspectives
The result of seeing the world from your own frame, thus assuming that members of different groups want to be like your own
Horizonal violence
Frustration at disenfranchisement resulting in violence within marginalized group
Institutionalized oppression
Subtle, long term conditioning of the public to view minority groups as ‘less than’
Pejorative view of the minority group
Feel that being different from the ‘ideal’ is bad
