reader’s ability to read and comprehend the document
What is independent verification?
looking up facts in other sources than the one that you got it from.
What are punctuation marks?
signs and indications that allow us to navigate written words. Can tell when a thought is ending or when a transition is coming.
What can you use semicolons for?
indicate relationships among groups of items in a series or to join 2 independent clauses.
What is grammar?
written construction of meaning from words and involves customs that evolve and adapt to usage over time.
What is verb tense?
point in time where action occurs. ,.,
What is the infinitive form of the verb?
Form of verb that has no reference to time.
Generally has a “to”
What is a double negative?
Using two negatives to communicate a single idea. Essentially duplicating the negation to cancel out.
What are irregular verbs?
Change a word or vowel to represent past tense instead of just adding “ed”
What are modifiers?
describe a subject in a sentence or indicate how or when the subject carried out the action.
What is a prepositional phrase?
phrase with a preposition that indicates location of the object and an object.
What is parallel construction?
use of the same grammatical pattern
What are the 5 steps in evaluation?
- Understand the assignment.
- Evaluate how well the writing carries out the assignment
- Evaluate Assertions
- Check Facts
- Look for errors
What is an assertion?
declaration, statement, or claim of fact.
What is framing?
how information is presented including margins, line justifications, and templates
