Should be given at the start and should:
1. Be a declarative statement
2. be a complete sentence

Outline
framework organizing main ideas and subordinate ideas
Parts of a paragraph?
Topic sentence: main thesis of the paragraph on what will be mentioned in the paragraph
Body sentence: support topic sentence with organization.
Conclusion sentence: brings paragraph to a close through summary or reinforcement or transition.
Declarative Sentences
make statements or declarations
Interrogative sentences
ask questions
Imperative sentences
Convey commands
Exclamatory sentences
express strong emotion. end with exclamation mark
What are transitions?
words or visual devices that help the audience follow the author’s ideas
What is writing style?
voice or tone of the writer. Don’t need a lot of self-expression in business writing.
What is conversational tone?
Resembles oral communication in style. tone, and word choice.
what is active voice?
sentence structure where subject carries out the action
what is passive voice?
sentence structure in which the subject receives the action.
What are the 7 key argumentative strategies?
Generalization, Analogy, Sign, Consequence, Authority, Principle, and Testimony.

What are Emotions?
psychological and physical reaction, such as fear or anger, to stimuli that we experience as a
feeling.
What is emotional resistance?
Getting tired, maybe to the point of rejection, of hearing messages that try to elicit emotional responses.
