Cluster B: Bad
dramatic, emotional, impulsive behaviour
Borderline
characterized by pattern of instability in relationships, self-image, mood, and lack of control over impulses
Splitting
inability to reconcile positive and negative aspects of self into one, resulting in radical shifts between the two
Antisocial and psychopathy
characterized by pattern of antisocial and irresponsible behaviour and lack of remorse
Narcissistic
characterized by adoption of inflated self-image and demands for constant attention and admiration
Primary narcissism
genuinely believes they are superior
Compensatory narcissism
feel insecurity and inferior and compensate by behaving in opposite way
Histrionic (hysterical)
characterized by excessive need to be center of attention and to receive reassurance, praise, and approval
Cluster C: Sad
anxious, fearful, avoidance behaviour
Avoidant
characterized by avoidance of social relationships due to fear of rejection
Dependent
characterized by difficulties making independent decision and by overly dependent behaviour
Obsessive-compulsive
characterized by rigid ways of relating to others, perfectionistic tendencies, lack of spontaneity, and excessive attention to details

state of oneness that exists between mother and infant in which infant’s identity is fused with mother’s
