Mainstreaming

Dyslexia
learning disorder characterized by impaired reading ability and may involve difficulty with alphabet or spelling
Decoding
problems identifying speech sounds and learning how they relate to letters and words
Oppositional defiant disorder
disorder in childhood or adolescence
characterized by excessive oppositionality or tendencies to refuse requests from parents and others
Autism spectrum disorders
disorder that involves impaired behaviour or functioning in multiple areas of development
chronic, lifetime conditioning
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
excessive motor activity, impulsivity, and/or inability to focus one’s attention
Hyperactivity
abnormal behaviour characterized by extreme resetlessness and difficulty maintaining attention
most often found in young boys
Intermittent explosiveness disorder
impulsive or anger-based aggressive outbursts that begin rapidly with little build-up
Conduct disorder
abnormal behaviour in childhood characterized by dirsuptive, antisocial behaviour
Separation anxiety disorder
extreme fears of separation from parents or others that the child is dependent on
Delirium
extreme mental confusion in which people have difficulty focusing their attention, speaking clearly and coherently, and orienting themselves to environment
Dementia
cognitive impairment involving generalized profound progressive deficits in memory, ability to communicate, judgement, motor coordination, and learning of new information
Vascular dementia
dementia caused by cardiovascular risk factors (diabetes, smoking, cholesterol)
