Contagion
group of people believe that they have a psychological disorder due to someone else in group having it
Dissociative identity disorder
condition where person has two or more distinct or alternate personalities
multiple personality disorder
Dissociative amnesia
dissociative disorder in which person experiences memory loss in absence of identifiable organic cause
Malingering
faking illness to avoid or escape work and other duities, or to obtain benefits
Depersonalization/derealization disorder
disorder where this is persistent feelings of unreality or detachment from one’s self or body, or functioning on auto-pilot, or observing oneself from outside (out-of-body experience)
Somatic symptom disorder
disorder where people complain of physical (somatic) problems, but no physical abnormality can be found
Illness anxiety disorder
preoccupation with idea that one is sick accompanied by substantial anxiety about health and disease
Care-avoidance
people who avoid medical visits because of anxiety about what might be discovered
Care-seeking
people who go doctor shopping hoping to find one professional who can confirm their worst fears
Conversion disorder
characterized by loss or impairment of physical function in absence of organic causes
La belle indifference
lack of concern over one’s symptoms by some with conversion disorder, as the physical symptoms are more tolerable than whatever they were facing before
Factitious disorder
falsfication of medical or psychologicial signs and symptoms in oneself and others for no apparent gain
Factious disorder on self
Munchausen syndrome
faking or inducing symptoms in oneself
Factious disorder imposed on another
Munchausen by proxy syndrome
inducing symptoms in others
Koro syndrome
supposedly fatal condition in which the genitals shrink or retract into body
