What is it?
A
Blood draining via the common bile duct into the duodenum

What is the diagnostic triad?
A
Triad:
- RUQ pain
- Guaiac positive/upper GI bleeding
- Jaundice

What are the causes?
A
- Trauma with liver laceration
- percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography (PTC)
- tumor

How is the diagnosis made?
A
EGD (blood out of the ampulla of Vater)
A-gram

What is the treatment?
A
A-gram with embolization of the bleeding vessel

What is bilhemia?
A
- Seen after trauma
- connection of bile ducts and venous system resulting in rapid and very elevated serum bilirubin
