Chapter 5 Flashcards
What are the basic design decisions after needs assessment?
can this be addressed by training, how do the results of the assessment go into training, how we can handle the decision, who will be a good trainer for the project, and what is the best way to organize.
what are the three steps to training need analysis
Organization, Task, Person
What are the key six activities included in the design plan
Selecting objectives, selecting the trainer or vendor, developing lesson plan, selecting program methods and techniques, preparing materials, and scheduling the program
What is an objective
a detailed description of what learners will be able to do when they complete a unit of instruction
Why are objectives important
provides learners with a clear path, directs the choice of instructional activities, and guides assessment strategies
What are three components of an effective objective
Performance, Condition, and Criteria
What is performance
A description of the behavior learners are expected to perform. It is measurable and observable. Ex: learning to interview for a job.
What is condition
describes the important conditions under which the performance is to occur. Ex: If you have a car and travel from Dallas to Houston can you make it in two hours. two hours is the condition.
What are the questions you ask to identify the key conditions
What the learner is (not) expected to use when performing and what will the real-world conditions under which the performance will be expected to occur
What is criterion
The standards that must be met to accept performance.
What makes criteria important
Tells learners how well to perform, which to test the success of the instruction, and evaluates them
What are the two ways to define criterion of acceptable performance
speed and accuracy
Why would an organization contract on training design
the firm does not have the expertise, time, or no HRD department
What are the three factors when selecting a trainer
training competency, subject matter expertise, and expertise as an instructor (knowing the audience)
what is train-the-trainer
teaching the trainer teaching the expert.
