First Degree Burn
burn just affects the epidermis; symptoms are hyperesthesia, erythema; no blisters
Second Degree Burn
affects epidermis and dermis; symptoms are hyperesthesia, erythema, blisters
Third Degree Burn
affects all layers of skin (full thickness); symptoms are anesthesia and/or hyperesthesia, black charred tissue (dead, no feeling)
Acne
inflammatory disorder of the sebaceous glands that produce bumps on the skin
Albinism
an inherited condition where there is no melanin production in skin
Alopecia
Hair loss due to aging, illness, or iatrogenic (ex. chemotherapy)
Cicatrix
scar
Cyanosis
the appearance of blue skin due to a lack of circulation (oxygen) or vasoconstriction
Ecchymosis
bruise caused by ruptured capillaries beneath the skin
Eczema
(dermatitis) autoimmune, acute or chronic skin lesions characterized by erythema, itchiness, and edema (swelling)
Gangrene
necrotic tissue (sometimes has to be amputated)
Keloid
Cicatrix gone wild/wrong
Impetigo
Bacterial infection; highly contagious; usually children and usually on face
Psoriasis
eczema on steroids…. autoimmune…. dry, scaly, red, itchy patches on skin
Scabies
bed bugs/parasitic infection of skin
