Supination
turning the palm of the hand ventrally
Pronation
turning the palm of the hand dorsally
Rotation
movement of a body part around its longitudinal axis
Hyperextension
straightening a joint beyond its normal ROM
Elevation
raising a body part (shoulders)
Circumduction
rotation of the limb in a circle (distal end of extremity goes in a circle)
Flexion
bending a joint or decreasing the angle
Abduction
movement of body part away from midline
Inversion
turning the sole of the foot inward
Opposition
approximating of the thumb to each finger
Plantar flexion
bending your ankle so toes are towards the plants (downwards)
Extenstion
straightening of a joint; increasing the angle
Dorsiflexion
bending your ankle so toes are up
Adduction
movement of body part toward the midline
Eversion
turning the sole of the foot outward
