Chapter 33 Flashcards
what are the five class of diuretics
loop diuretic (most commonly used) potassium sparing thiazide carbonic anhydrase inhibitor osmotic
diuretics are used to treat what diseases
Edema, hypertension, renal disease, cerebral edema, acute glaucoma
inhibits Na+ and cL- ions in the distal and proximal tubules of kidney
loop diuretic
inhibit re absorption of Na+ and cL- excretion is increase
thiazide diuretic
increase the density of filtrate Na+ and cL- exretion is incretion
osmotic diuretic Head injury
inhibits excretion of Na+ and K+ bicarbonate and water
carbonic anhydrase inhibitor
reduce K+ excretion by kidney. It blocks the reabsorption by Na+ in kidney tubles which increase the Na+ and water in urine
potassium sparing diuretics
what are the adverse reactions of diuretics
dizziness, headache, fatigue, hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, anorexia, N/V
