Name two types of reproduction, explain the difference between each, and give two examples of each form of reproduction.
Asexual - creation of genetically identical offspring by a line parent and does not require gametes
Sexual - creation of offspring through the process of fertilization and does not require gametes
Asexual: starfish and planaria
Sexual: humans and dogs
What is the purpose of reproduction?
Carry on species
Where are the sex cells (gametes) made in each human gender?
Eggs are made in the ovaries
Sperm are made in the testis
What is the path of an unfertilized egg?
Ovaries, oviduct, uterus, cervix, vagina
What is the path of the sperm?
Testicles, vas deferent, ejactulatory duct, urethra
What cell division process results in the formation of gametes?
Meiosis
How many egg and sperm are made from one cell?
One egg cell and for sperm cells
Are gametes haploid or diploid?
Haploid
