Who is Clovis?
“King of the Franks” at fifteen in 481. After converting to Christianity and defeating the Visigoths, he claimed the title “Augustus, Consul of the West” and became the first true king of all the Franks, ruling from Paris.
Why didn’t Childeric rule over all of the Franks?
The other Frankish tribes maintained their independence, so Childeric had to fight against rival kings, Odovacer of Italy, Alemanni invaders to the east, and the Saxons.
How did Clovis convert to Christianity?
Clovis converted to Christianity on the battlefield while losing to the Alemanni. He prayed to Jesus Christ for victory, promising to believe in Him. After his prayer, the Alemanni surrendered, and Clovis returned home a Christian with his wife.

When King Clovis, died in 511, why did he leave his kingdom to his four sons?

To avoid resentment, Clovis named his four sons as rulers, and the Franks, accustomed to recognizing the Salian clan’s leadership, accepted their new leaders.
