MICROBIAL SYMBIOSES WITH HUMANS
reinforce a normal microbiota into the gut of someone with an intestinal disease of bacterial origin and have the transplanted microbial community become established and exclude the disease-causing organisms
FECAL TRANSPLANT

PROBIOTICS
food additive that promotes the growth and activity of beneficial microorganisms, usually in the gastrointestinal tract
PREBIOTICS
a mixture of probiotics and prebiotic that beneficially affects the host by altering the microbiome
SYNBIOTICS
an alteration or imbalance of an individuals microbiome relative to the normal, healthy state, primarily observe in the microbiota of the digestive tract or the skin
DYSBIOSIS
total microbial content in and on the human body
HUMAN MICROBIOME
the types of organisms present in an environmental habitat, such as the human skin or the human gastrointestinal tract
MICROBIOTA
a functional collection of different microbes in an environmental system such as the human body
MICROBIOME
the entire population of viruses, including animal, microbial, and plant viruses, in an environmental system such as in and on the human body
