general= occurs in all the body and puts the patient asleep
local=limited to a particular region
general= nitrous oxide
local= procaine (Novocain)

anticoagulants prevent clotting of the blood while antiplatelet drugs reduce the tendency of platelets sticking together. an example is aspirin
