Chapter 20 Part 1 Flashcards
Releases neurotransmitters at synapses -effectors include neurons, muscles or glands -faster responses
Nervous system
Permits cell to respond to more then one hormone
Cells that contain many specific receptors
Nervous system; mostly by negative feedback system -chemical changes in blood -other hormones
Secretion control
Major link between nervous and endocrine system -controls anterior pituitary by releasing stimulating or inhibiting hormones -controls posterior pituitary by releasing hormones.
Hypothalamus
Attached to the hypothalamus -consists of anterior and posterior portions -anterior portions consists of 7 hormones -posterior portion consists of 2 hormones
Pituitary gland
Releases hormones into blood -effectors include all body cell types -slower longer lasting response
Endocrine system
Human growth hormone (hgh) thyroid stimulating hormone (tgh) follicle stimulating hormone (fsh) lutenizing hormone (LH) prolactin (PRL) adreninicortrophic hormone (ATCH) melanocyte (MSH)
Anterior pituitary hormones
