What is Epistaxis or Nosebleed?
A
A common problem that can occur when dry hair causes the nasal mucous membranes inside the nose to dry out more likely to bleed when sneezing or nose blowing.

Less common causes of Epistaxis or Nosebleed?
A
High blood pressure, nasal polyps, use of blood thinners, and blood diseases.

What does the initial treatment consist of?
A
Pinching the soft part of the nose together for 10min.

What does advanced treatment involves?
A
Packing the nose with a gauze pad, inflating a nasal balloon to create pressure against the blood vessels or cauterization with heat energy or silver nitrate.
