Chapter 19 Speed Agility And Quickness Flashcards
How is SAQ useful and effective?
Stimulate muscular endurance, neurological , connective tissue and even cardiovascular adaptions
what can SAQ improve?
SAQ can improve performance and keep youthful movement throughout life.
what abilities will be beter through SAQ training?
accelerate, decelerate , move in and dynamically stabilize the body through all planes of movement,
define stride length
the amount of distance covered in one stride
define stride rate
the amount of stride taken in a certain amount of time
define quickness
the ability to react to a stimulus, to change the body position or motion in accordance to the stimulus.
Define Agility
the ability to accelerate, deaccelerate and change direction of motion while maintaining posture
why is proper running mechanics important ?
enforce optimum force through biomechanics
what can SAQ help
decrease the likelihood of injury and improve the ability to participate in sports and physical fitness
SAQ can help for older adults ?
Improve bone density, coordination and muscular power
how does high intensity help for population of weight loss and unathletic populations?
it give short bout of work in intervals
what is front side mechanics ?
the involving of tripple flexion of hip , knee and ankle
what is bac kside mechanics?
triple extension of ankle , knee and hips
briefly describe the one - ins
imagine a ladder a foot in each box
Briefly describe the two -ins
imagine a ladder and both feet in each box
in - in - out - out
imagine a ladder. each foot in the box step then another step the each foot on the out side step out .
in - in - out zig zag
imagine a ladder two feet on inside box then out side and zig back the other way up the ladder.
side shuffle
imagine a ladder going sideways . two foot in each box going to the left or right
ali shuffle
imagine an agility ladder. zig zag motion going sideays. two feet in each box going sideways
5 -10 -5 drill
3 cone 5 feet apart . from the middle cone sprint sprint to the edge cone. from the edge cone sprint to the edge cone . from the edge come sprint back to the middle cone
modified box drill
four cones make up a equal box. a cone dead center of the box where a client will start. out side cone numbered 1-4. CPT will call out on of the cone and client will sprint to that cone and run back to start.
t drill
cones shaped in a T
